Meet Nikki, a single mom and ADF veteran.

Nikki created a budget-friendly eco-home for her family in Tasmania. She embraced modular, prefabricated design to capture stunning north and south views and create a cozy sanctuary against the harsh winters Tasmanian winters.

Single mum of two, Nikki, wanted a home for her and her boys that connected them to nature and immersed them in the outdoor lifestyle they love, however, she was also mindful of not over-committing financially and avoiding a complex and time-consuming build process.

Therefore, when Nikki, an ADF veteran of 26 years, discovered a modular, prefabricated option that gave her peace of mind with specified time frames and a transparent build process, she was sold.

  • "Nikki selected a compact design that allowed her to capitalise on the incredible north and south views whilst also orientating the home to capture the warm winter sun."

Nikki had previously lived in poorly designed homes and wanted this new home to be a light-filled, cosy sanctuary that buffered her family from the harsh Tasmanian winters.

A little slice of paradise.

The result is Claude Road Farm, a little slice of paradise nestled at the foot of Mt Roland, where Nikki can wander the creek with her labradoodle, Maxi, and watch her boys ride dirt bikes from the kitchen window.

It is such a privilege to be touring this country meeting other everyday Aussies who have done their little bit to build better, consume less, and live more. Nikki's story epitomises the ethos of 'doing what you can, where you are, with what you have', and I'm so pleased to share it ... bravo Nikki!
